With most of us back on deck and well into the second half of the financial year, it’s time for you to evaluate where you are, and where you want to be at 30 June 2006…

Under the GPL philosophy, PLANNING is probably one of the most important things that you and your managers must do, and nothing could be more important that this second half of the financial year. While January could have been a little bit slow, we are about to enter February and YOU need to know what direction your firm is heading in!

We have put together the ‘GPL Network 2006 Kick Start Practice Self Evaluation’, which are 21 key questions to move you rapidly towards your 05/06 targets…

1. Have you analysed exactly your practice performance for the first 6 months of FY 05/06?

2. Are you behind budget, on budget or in front of budget at the half way mark?

3. Is cash flow behind budget, on budget or in front of expected position?

4. Has your team capacity changed for the 2nd half compared to initial planning?

5. Have you analysed how much capacity you have left for 05/06?

6. What fees do you estimate you have left for 05/06?

7. Will capacity meet expected fees?

8. Do you need more capacity to meet expected fees?

9. Do you need more fees to meet capacity available?

10. What is your plan to get more fees during 2nd half of 05/06 if required?

11. Have you set some personal, business & family goals for 2006?

12. What skill sets would you like to personally improve in 2006?

13. What could you have done more effectively in 2005?

14. Have you set a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) for 2006?

15. Do you have a plan to improve your Managers Skills Sets in 2006?

16. Do you have a plan on how to improve your overall teams skill sets in 2006?

17. Are you clear on what you have to do to INCREASE GROWTH in 2006?

18. Are you clear on what you have to do to INCREASE PROFIT in 2006?

19. Are you clear on what you have to do to INCREASE LIQUIDITY in 2006?

20. Have you considered your tax planning strategy/program for clients for 05/06?

21. Do you have an action oriented plan of items you need to knock over in the first quarter of 2006?
